It's FAIR TIME!

Fair fair fair fair fair, I love the fair!

Somewhere in one of those barns (towards the back) are two of my knitted pieces - hopefully with BLUE RIBBONS ON THEM. Judging was Thursday but I won't get there to see them until later this afternoon. *fingers crossed*

I entered in a  pair of socks (OF COURSE) and my fair isle mittens that I finished last January.

Cookie A - Summer Sox pattern (free)

The socks are, uhhhhh, totally new. I started them a week before the Fair and finished them, no lie, about 12 hours before I dropped them off at the handcrafts barn. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute!!! I had another pair from earlier in the year that I could have entered in case I didn't finish these but the color wasn't as nice as those. (My 'glittery oatmeal' Dragonfly ones.) The knitted items are in glass cases so I like a color that will really 'pop'.

This is a FABULOUS yarn by a local CT dyer by the name of TuckerWoods Artisan Yarns. It doesn't show up well on camera, but the yarn has shiny golden threads loosely spun in. Gives them a golden tinge. If it's glittery, it's for me! I'll definitely have to get another skein of this at the Stitches East show in the fall.

Woodstock Fair is a true agricultural fair because there are many many animal barns and contests devoted to that sort of thing, not just rides and fried food. Fun, fun, fun!
Anyone else love the Fair???

Have a great  holiday (to some) weekend, y'all!!!!

Yup! We went to our State Fair this year. But man! The prices for a family of five can kill ya! Let's hope for two blue ribbons. You deserve them. I remember the mittens well. They are beauties!

Oh, I so hope you win, Melanie--if you don't, the judges must be blind! Both entries are lovely :)
