How is your April going so far?
I'm happy that the snow is almost gone here. (Or actually might already be gone. It's been raining all day and it's possible that finished off the last of the snow, if I bothered to get up and go look.) I hope it's awhile before we have another winter as snowy and dismal as this last one has been. :(
It wasn't a good winter for our bees either, as one Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-83552050039717658072015-03-17T16:18:00.000-04:002015-03-17T16:18:18.574-04:00Happy St. Patrick's Day!
My last name is Irish McIrishy so I always look forward to St. Patty's and tucking into a corned beef dinner. Any holiday that comes with good food is a good holiday to celebrate, right?
(I also had my one Shamrock Shake for the year yesterday but I'm prettttttttty sure that has nothing to do with being Irish. lol)
I only have the one little stitchy done up for the holiday Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-29670808692209699802015-02-10T19:23:00.001-05:002015-02-10T19:23:13.046-05:00February
Out with the old....
And in with the new...
Who knew I had so many stitches for Valentine's? I was pleasantly surprised when I went digging to switch out my little basket here!
They might have to stay in there for quite some time though because I really have nothing for spring time smalls. Not sure how that happened either (I don't hate rabbits?!? Or spring flowers?!?) but I mightMelaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-79517935508392870012015-01-20T17:35:00.000-05:002015-01-20T17:35:17.501-05:00Hats, hats, hats....
What do you when the weather is mean and bitterly cold? Knit hats!
I'm up to two so far for the month.
Because nothing says winter like..............lobsters?!?
These are ROCK lobsters, from Maine. (No joke - the pattern writer is from Maine.) I like the colors and always adore doing some Fair Isle so this one was a winner. Husband loves it, so no complaints there. :)

One last post for 2014!
It's been a busy two weeks. Been using my time off from work to declutter, clean, organize, sort, pack up or throw away basically half the decorations and other items in the house. (I even cleaned through my birthday on the 21st! RAWRRR!) Many many boxes have been filled for good will and countless trash bags and other items have made their way off to the trash Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-71274155708664642382014-12-25T17:54:00.001-05:002014-12-25T17:54:33.884-05:00Merry Christmas!
And Happy Holidays to all!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Almost missed my picture post for November!! *scramble*scramble*scramble*
Getting in just under the wire. :)
(This post was a real labor of love, too, because I hit something on my keyboard in the middle of it that split all the paragraphs and symbols into gobbledy-gook and, well, it took some doing to figure out how I had screwed THAT up. Picture post! Lots of eye candy!
Before it gets too late and I end up having wasted my time taking all these photos. :)
Hartford Convention Center
Oooo, Stitches East 2014 show was fun. Last year I didn't see much that excited me but this year I wanted EVERYTHING. A whole convention center of everything you want. It's so sweet and so cruel.
Did indeed start some Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-64612547269470537362014-10-10T16:47:00.001-04:002014-10-10T16:47:16.066-04:00October.
Yay! An update! I keep meaning to do this and meaning to do this but it never seems to happen. Grrr! I lost a bit of time there in September due to a vacation week and - even more importantly - a BRAND NEW COMPUTER. I am no longer computing like it's 2006, people!
My old computer actually wasn't in terrible shape, aside from being nervous of a hardware meltdown happening at any Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-19272061814190034912014-09-02T18:17:00.003-04:002014-09-02T18:17:55.782-04:00September
I am a bad, bad blogger because I seem to have missed a post for August. And most of July. Whoops? There was no way I wasn't going to get on here and talk about my (truly) beloved Woodstock Fair that is held on Labor Day weekend and the fact that I...
WON BEST IN SHOW for knitting again. Woooooooo!
I LOVE THAT WHEN THAT HAPPENS, I'll admit it. I only enter stuff in that I thinkMelaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-69185917392124171372014-07-08T18:42:00.001-04:002014-07-08T18:42:40.297-04:00July post-ish.
(I never get tired of putting out the little stitchies from years past for July.)
Hope everyone in the US had a nice holiday weekend. The weather here was dreadful for the 4th -just as expected with a hurricane/tropical storm passing by the coast. Torrential rain, hail, wind, thunderstorms, etc. Only off/on though so it could have been worse. And the power kept threatening to go outMelaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com18tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-60811634533225952512014-06-23T15:31:00.000-04:002014-06-23T15:31:44.071-04:00No more kittens.
Because these....
...have turned into these...
..now that they are 1 year old this month. :)
Kinda crazy how fast time goes by! I suppose I should stop calling them 'the kittens' now, eh? I'm going to start calling them 'the twins' instead. They aren't technically twins but they WERE the only 2 babes in that litter and they still do EVERYTHING together so it works Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-76398303388313312512014-06-10T18:10:00.002-04:002014-06-10T18:11:28.594-04:00An update of sorts.
I haven't much felt like updating this spring (obviously, since it's been so long), for reasons I'll save until the end of this to delay the depressing part, but things aren't all bad.
I'm quite happy that *my* hawks are back this year and in the nest above my bedroom window that they built last year. This picture is a couple weeks old now (probably from my deck around Memorial Day Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-89401705569362645352014-03-26T19:05:00.002-04:002014-03-26T19:06:04.306-04:00This and That. Ends with Cuteness.
As tired as I am of the cold weather and winter (which is still here, regardless of it being a lot sunnier overall than last month at this time), I do love that I can still really enjoy a hot cup of tea for the moment, inside and out, as I use it to warm my hands up as well as my insides. I'm most definitely not a 'hot drink' drinker once the weather turns and ice tea isn't quite the same so Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-58486824421420419092014-03-18T19:47:00.000-04:002014-03-18T19:47:37.048-04:00*waves*
Oh, dear. Just not into this blogging 'thing' lately, I'm afraid. :(
Can't say it's for any particular reason either, other than general 'winter has gone on MUCH MUCH TOO LONG now' malaise that is probably affecting almost all of us in the northern hemisphere. Busy with work, yes, as always, but things are moving along as normal otherwise.
Figured I should get in here before Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-779698571783269962014-02-07T15:21:00.003-05:002014-02-07T15:21:35.695-05:00New Beads!
In keeping with the 'usual' (being late for everything in my hobbies), they aren't particularly in season. I just go with the flow and make what I like, seasons be damned. :)
Personally, I'm looking at a ton of snow out there so I'm game for some snowman.
(I have a snow kitty-man on my deck right now. An inspired bit of snow
fun by the hubby from the other day. lol)
The snowman are Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-69805693364179447522014-01-27T16:18:00.000-05:002014-01-27T16:18:45.306-05:00Hmm.
Well, I guess I'm not going to update here any more than I did last year (roughly twice a month....in a good month) if *THIS* month has been an indicator. Ha!
Though it has to be said: Winter is not my favorite time of the year. It certainly is pretty with the snow and all but, man, is it gloomy, gloomy, gloomy at times. Last year I didn't feel it so much but this year is not as good.Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-4210560702203318732014-01-06T16:18:00.000-05:002014-01-07T13:19:10.504-05:00Beads, beads, beads.
I finished my New Year's cleaning - whew! Feels nice to have a clean start to the year. Purged of all things clutterly and so last year.
As part of that I've cleaned out all my 'bead bowls' from last year, strung them up by theme, and put them on Etsy for a steal.
Now I get to start over again from scratch and create new 'piles'. (And there are ALWAYS new piles. It's Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-49513617666175173592014-01-03T16:36:00.001-05:002014-01-03T16:36:28.937-05:00Yes, please.
To a new year, that is. :)
Like many, many others I've seen - I don't think 2013 was the best year ever.
Still here in one piece though so I can't complain too much.
Onward to 2014!
Oh, that might be a little unfair though because the holidays were quite nice 'round these parts and I've enjoyed the break. A nice finish to the year is appreciated after the depressing grind of Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-87044222492353115342013-12-20T23:18:00.000-05:002013-12-20T23:18:46.314-05:00FA LA LA LAaaaAAaaaa!
It's official. I am done with work until the New Year.
*happy sigh*
Not a moment too soon, either! Just no idea where the last four weeks have gone. :(
Bless anyone who doesn't get a small break for the holidays. It's all so overwhelming.
For my first day of workless bliss (today) I had to deal with some Serious Business straight away before I got arrested........by the Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-43549413356216571942013-11-25T18:58:00.001-05:002013-11-25T18:58:22.649-05:00Ok.
Which one of you is responsible for letting me go a month without posting? HUH? Please come forward. Because, surely, it's not my fault. It's got to be someone else out there who fell down on poking and prodding me into doing it......right? :)
Also, how is Thanksgiving already upon us? I'm feeling a little shell shocked over that and how close Christmas is, too. *scared*

But not for me! For the hubby. :)
Last week we made the (2hr) trip up to Northhampton, Masschusetts to the much-loved and always-awesome WEBS yarn store so he could take a 2 day class in......
WEAVING. Specifically weaving on a Rigid Heddle loom.
He's always wanted to try it out and the basic class they offer is a good way to figure out if you like it or not. They provide the Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-71380457314018553522013-10-22T14:02:00.001-04:002013-10-22T14:02:26.307-04:00At last.
An update! Well, this month has clearly gotten the best of me, as far as keeping up with stuff. Yeeesh.
Part of that is that October is inherently busy for me. Fall is my favorite season and I like to take advantage of every nice fall day I can, hitting up the various festivals going on or just making time to sit on the deck when the weather is nice enough. (Anything in the Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-84807368753498899912013-10-01T16:14:00.000-04:002013-10-01T16:14:55.794-04:00Little bit of everything.
I've had a couple people ask if I'm still making beads, because I haven't posted any really on the blog in a while. The answer: DEFINITELY YES. I've been working on a ton of them behind the scenes. (Pictured above is the pile of beads made over the weekend that I had to string and ship out yesterday. Have another pile to make over the next few days too.) Having said that though, I'm not super Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736923.post-87846184122934002022013-09-27T12:54:00.000-04:002013-09-27T13:01:20.658-04:00Today is officially PUMPKIN DAY aka PUMPKINS FOR CATHEY DAY!!
It's Pumpkin Patch Cathey's blogaversary so today we will celebrate happy happy PUMPKIN DAY to send some smiles her way!
This pumpkin here is one I stitched that is forever linked to Cathey. She graciously sent me more matching green thread, a long time ago, to save my butt when I needed. It helped me avoid ripping out the 3/4's of green I had already done and having to Melaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06230362349362748862noreply@blogger.com13
