Still here!

Bit blustery outside but the worst is definitely past. Seemed no worse than a real good Nor'easter in the winter, to be honest. A tree fell on the house of the neighbor across the street but it doesn't look like it *crushed* his house so I think they'll be okay. (His pool may be toast though.)

Little damp in the basement but it's only in one area so it should be easy to deal with........once the power comes back on. :( Seems like the majority of the state is out at this point so it's anyone's guess when it will come back on.

So worst case scenario, we're going to lose the contents of the fridge and deep freezer. Oh joy.

I've resorted to pressing my body up against the fridge to see if I can magically sustain myself that way. All my delicious food is trapped inside but I don't want to open the door if I can still save stuff by holding out and keeping it cold a little longer. But I'm getting real HOoONGRY now so we'll see how long I can hold out. Lol (Nothing like planning ahead and pulling some stuff out when the power first started getting dodgy! Would it have killed me to put some fruit out on the counter last night? Geez! /idiot)

I think it won't matter after a certain point tonight anyway so we can get our binge on for supper. *snort*

Oh well, could be worse. We've got our battery-operated Sirius radio to listen to all the major news channels, Internet/email until our phones die and DVDs until the portable players die. (The Kindles never die.) This sort of thing was so much more boring pre-2000's wasn't it? :<)

(May I never have to write too many blog posts on my iPhone though because this much typing on this thing kinda sorta sucks. I didn't even remember I HAD this app, seems handy in a pinch though. /two thumbs up)

Hope everyone else fared as well!!!!!! *HUGS*

Glad to hear it's not too bad where you are.

I talked to my sister in south Jersey this morning. She said it was gusty, but they were still dry in the basement.

My dh's cousin in upstate NY has fared worse. Lots of flooding and damaged roads. One road now has an 8 foot gap in it. YIKES!

Hope your electricity comes on soon and that you can save your food. You could always take a peek into the freezer and if things are thawing, you can start grilling meat. During hurricane season I generally fill up jugs of water and put them in the freezer. That way if my power goes out there is something in there helping to keep things cold. Thankfully, I've not had to test it for more than a few hours.

Glad to hear you're safe and relatively dry!

Hmmm. So you lost power but your basement is relatively dry. We have our power but our basement is flooded as usual. lol! Who's got it worse? :D I'm hoping the basement won't get any worse. It's at the usual point now and will hopefully go down from now on as opposed to up. Hope you get your power back soon. This was not a fun storm, but I have to say it was better than I expected.

Glad to hear you made it through ok. Sorry about the power loss :( hopefully it will be back on soon before things do spoil in the fridge. Freezer should be fine for a bit.

So glad you didn't get hit too bad, hope that you don't have to throw too much stuff away in your freezer!

I was wondering how you managed to make a blog post with no power, i'm still not down with technology yet, lol.

Stay safe x
