Happy Friday everyone. :)

Another summer week that just flew right by. It's just crazy how fast this summer seems to be going by. :( At least the heat/humidity let up some this week so we're not all wilting like wilty things. lol

How adorable is this?
Little House Needleworks - Fresh Watermelon
I've seen this stitched up on many, many other blogs and I've loved them all so I finally got around to doing one up for myself. Most of this stitching was done last month pre-shawl obsession, I only had the watermelons and the vine on the left to finish it up this week. And, of course, I totally hosed the vine part. So par for the course. lol So_close_to_finishing only to be outdone with EPIC FAIL. I put in an extra repeat in the middle by accident so the top of the vine ended up a little higher than it should. Honestly? I don't really care. It's one of those weeks. I could have gone back and fixed it but I figured, you know what? It's a random-freaking-vine and I'm going to embrace my RANDOMNESS. So it's missing a small green leaf at the top...................Maybe I like it BETTER THIS WAY, ok? (Edit: I just noticed I'm missing about 9 squares of white on one of the flowers. Now that I *will* go back and fix tonight before I forget!)

A lot of people wonder how I get so many projects done and here is the not-so-secret secret: it's because I have a husband who goes to bed early (and I do mean EARLY - 8pm) four nights a week because of his work schedule. (Up at 1-2am.) I don't go to bed until after midnight so that is a lot of 'quiet' time going on in this house at night. lol So what else is there to do? I can't do housework. I can't operate exercise machines. I can't bake/cook. (I really do hate having a house where the bedrooms are on the main floor with everything else. Everything you do is NOISY.) So what do you have left: tv related activities, things you can do during the tv related activities like knitting, etc., computer related activities, reading related activities, and, I suppose, drinking yourself silly. (Hint: I have about 1-2 drinks per year so that one is not a real activity. lol) I like to keep myself busy so that's how stuff gets done. You just never know what I'm actually in the mood for though. I went through a serious knitting related drought earlier this year but that seems to be over for the moment. The Fair is coming up and if I'm going to enter anything to be judged I gotta get moving! :)

I think it looks great and no one will really know of the mistake but you. Plus, it makes it a little more personalized. :)

I love it! The mistake (what mistake?) is no biggie. Looks perfect to me! I seem to be going through a crafty drouth right now myself.

Melanie~ You never cease to amaze me with all the craft things you do and how much you get done. Perhaps if I didn't have kids I'd get more done and have more energy to do more! LOL
I always enjoy seeing all your finished work!
So when's the next bead update???
Have a great weekend!

My husband also goes to bed early and I do the same thing ... knit the night away.

The mistake is not noticeable at all. I would let that one slide for sure. :) It looks great! I envy all your quiet stitching time...aaah, so relaxing at the end of the day!

I'm pretty much a night owl myself, and I work full-time! Time never seems to catch up with me though.

Anyway, love the stitching. Its the epitome of Summer.

I used to get a lot done for the very same reason -- Rick would hit the bed at 8pm and I'd work until midnight. But now I can't see that well at night anymore and I feel like I've lost half my day!

Love this stitched piece! Colours are beautiful. Your shawl that you made is also a beauty . Look forward to hearing how it goes at the fair!

Nothing says summer more than a big juicy slice of watermelon! I just love this one, Melanie...

I also envy you your quiet, uninterrupted stitching time. You're lucky to have such a nice, quiet past-time to fill those hours.

Mistake???? I didn't see a mistake. It's just an artistic embellishment!

My husband is the night owl in our house, however, he has an IT job that requires him to work from 2am-7am every month or so. On those nights, he goes to bed at 6pm and gets up at midnight. I get a lot of knitting done on those nights. :-)

was wondering how you managed to get all that done LOL That's defnitely time well spent, I wish I didn't need to go to bed so early (9.30) so that I could craft away when my baby is asleep...But too exhausted for that! Hope to get more time when Dylan's a bit bigger :)

If you hadn't of said anything, I wouldn't have noticed! Looks just fine to me and congrats on your lovely finish :o)

Gee, that is a lot of time to yourself! I have that much time and more but I don't get THAT much done ;o) LOL!
