RAINBOWS!

I know I said I was going to try and do as little stash-adding as I could this year but........

RAINBOWS!!!?!?!!
I am weak in the face of a rainbow colored mitten kit. So sue me. lol
I mean, LOOK AT THAT COLOR. *squeeee*

I'm not sure I have the energy to start another Fair Isle mitten so soon after the last one though. Might have to tuck this away until later this year.

First stitchy, no-longer-a-WIP finish of the year....
CCN's Sweetest Home.

I started this last summer, enjoyed working on it while sitting on the deck, got halfway through and then forgot it existed. Whoops. So I only had to finish the other half, which went very quickly. My two hand-dyes for the hives weren't quite as different from one another as the sample would suggest so I did a little back stitching between the 'stripes' with a dark honey color to accentuate it. No changes otherwise.

I'm thinking I may order the frame that is in the sample:
It looks very nice all together like that. (They are always happy to order these types of frames for you at 123stitch.com by the way.) Or maybe I'll have the hubby make it for me and get a little wood doo-dad from Michaels to jazz it up. He does like making frames.........we'll see. :)

So. One WIP down, many more to tackle. One per month in 2013.......wouldn't be a terrible goal, right?

Some sweet little primroses that I couldn't resist buying, even though I'm pretty terrible at keeping anything alive other than your standard 'hardy' houseplant like a spider plant. Again, I'm a sucker for the color. :)

This month feels like it has been crazy-insane-batpoo busy but we did find time to go see a hockey game the other weekend. I had forgotten how much FUN these can be. (Would LOVE to go back next month if we can!!) It was Connecticut (where I live) against Rhode Island (where I am from) so I didn't care who won - even better! lol (RI team won. CT team was.......uhhh.......kinda terrible. Wow. I will not be rooting for them anymore. lol)

Other than that, I think I have reached the point where I am tired of winter. I get so tired of feeling cold all day, every day. Anyone else?????
Oh spring, you can not get here soon enough for me!

All the colors of the rainbow! Very pretty.
That is one of the things I hate about overdyed threads. I'll actually cut certain sections so they'll match the way they should. It's a lot of bother sometimes. But, your piece looks beautiful.

Love your rainbow! I'm quite certain no one remembers you saying you would not be adding to you stash this year.

Come on down to Florida - we have our air on! Or we did yesterday, we should be able to turn it off for a day or two tonight. The sun is even shining! :)

Gorgeous yarn. Just the most luscious colors!

Yea for your beautiful finished piece. That is a cute frame indeed, but if you have a personal framester in the house, might as well go for it!

Rainbows! I think color works like a 'feel good' drug for me. I could just stare (happily) at the yarn for a good 1/2 hour or so and be totally transported. Great work on the beehives too (that chart is in my stash).

Love your CCN finish. I have never seen that design before, so now I will need to put that on my wish list.

Thanks for the info about 123 stitch having frames. I am in desperate need of frames and I did not know that they even carried them. Looks like I will be doing quite a bit of shopping before long. Enjoy your stitching and your yummy new yarn.

Yes, Melanie. As I sit here in the basement with cold feet and sit on my hands as I read, it is -1º outside. Yucko!
The mittens are the opposite of yucko. Wow! Fabulous.
What a perfect stitch for beekeepers.

Oh wow, I don't think anyone could have resisted that beautiful wool, so vibrant. Cute beekeeper finish, perfect.

Your cross stitch picture is ADORABLE. I think the backstitching really sets off the hives. Good call on that one.

Hockey --- love me some hockey. I'll be going in March to see the Flyers vs. Lightning in Tampa. I feel like you do. The Flyers are from where I grew up, but the Lightning is my "local" team. Win/Win right?

Oh, I'm so envious of you having a husband who makes (and enjoys making!) frames... all my husband wants to make is beer!!

Those rainbow mittens will be incredible and will certainly cheer you up on a cold winter's day. Good buy :) And congratulations on your first finish of the year, Melanie--it is very cute!!

HomeSweetHome is adorable and I do like the frame that is shown on the pattern picture.

Did want to comment about the darling hat in the previous post, your knitting is just so lovely and even and smooth - love the hat, also love the heart beads.
