Hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend!
Quinebaug River Trail
I wasn't quite up to bike riding because my lower back was ouchie so yesterday I opted for walking the path here in town instead while *he* biked. I've never actually walked it before and it was nice - but took longer than I thought it would, clocking in at 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete it. (My Fitbit recorded it as 4.5 miles but I think that's wrong. It's closer to 3.5 miles according to GPS on my phone. /shrug.) I just wanted to get out and enjoy the PHENOMENAL weather while it lasts as it's supposed to be quite a bit warmer later this week. You really couldn't have asked for a better weekend, weather wise. :)
Ooooooooooo!!! MUST HAVE this new CCN pattern the SECOND it's available at my usual internet seller(s). Hives and bees? YOU WILL BE MINE. It's like it was created specifically with me in mind. :)
Our actual hives were in a bit of crisis mode this week as they BOTH were found to be missing queens for some reason. (!!!) One of the hives swarmed a couple weeks ago, which sometimes results in the loss of a missing queen but no clue as to what happened to the second hive's queen. It's a mystery and, per usual, the bees aren't talking. (Tight-lipped as always, they are!!) Above are the two 'emergency' queens had by a local bee keeper in the husband's Guild. So hopefully that puts everything back to rights. The workers from both sides will chew through the wax plug holding her in her cage in a few days time, at which point they will have forgotten she's an intruder and *should* accept her into the fold like nothing happened. High Drama in the Bee World going on over here. lol
Some yarny goodness from the Cookie A sock club.
OMG how is it time for another sock club package already?? I'm still working on the one from February and I can't even tell you where the APRIL package is located in this house! I pulled the February ones out this weekend to work on but they are slower than molasses with all the cabling. (I like doing cables but you CAN NOT rush them!)
Side note: this yarn is the exact color of my senior prom dress. And shoes. And purse. Oy. (That's how it was DONE in 1989, okay? MATCHY MATCHY.)

I didn't know you did bees too! You are the most versatile individual.
We had gorgeous weekend weather here too and I also took a major walk. My feet and hips are talking to me about it today! ;-)
Like that bee pattern! You keep bees? Yikes! Freak out! lol! Nice yarn! Funny that you mention your senior prom -- we just got back from renting (at the last minute) DS's tux for prom and ordering a corsage (at the last minute since DS didn't tell me he had a date) for his prom date.
I love the story about the bees getting the queen bee out of the cage - how cool is that!? I love how I always learn something new when I blog-hop! :-)
Good luck with the queen bees, hopefully the hive drama is over for now.
ROTFLOL at the sock club! I'm pretty sure I wore a bridesmaids dress around that time that was about that color. Hmm, my prom dress in 1989 was METALLIC MIDNIGHT BLUE. WITH WHITE LACE. Oh yeah. Oh wait...that was 1988's. 1989's was actually white, but that's OK because it was from the Dirty Dancing collection. BOOYAH!
Well now Melanie, guess what color my prom dress was? Uh huh, that's right, it was PINK. Imagine that. Still my favorite. I love that color yarn, it is beautiful. The bee info is cool. :) http://astitchersstory.blogspot.com/
I thought the CCN pattern was made with ME in mind! Ha-ha. Interesting to see the Queen Bees and hope all goes well. Such a pretty bridge on your walk. Hope it was pleasant.
You being a beekeeper is news to me! How lovely, and i have learnt something new from your blog about the Queen and how she will be let out of her prison LOL
Loving the new yarn, WOWZA!! that is a stunning colour. Do we get to see pic of you in the dress LOL ... only kidding.
Yep ... cables take time. No two ways about that. Luckily, they are SO worth it!
Hope your Queen Bee is ruling the apiary real soon.
Emergency queens ~ holy moly.. never heard of that. lol.
Sorry about your back ache.. at least you got to take a walk instead of biking. Just take it slow.
Hope that you have a great new week.
What a pretty place to walk! Live that pattern ~ I find it very cool that you have bees! I love honey!
Pretty color yarn too!
Wow what a Bee Drama! I had no idea there could Bee Bee Hive Crises!!!
You are a woman of many talents, Melanie--beekeeping, too!! Wow! I hope the bees settle down now that the new queens have appeared...
Pretty yarn--and funny about the prom dress, shoes, purse :) It had to be better than the stuff we wore in the early 70s, though!!
Oh I LOve that you recall that is your senior prom dress color!! I think it will make great socks!
I never knew you could add a new queen to a hive. Very interesting! You must be knee-deep in honey. Lucky you.
Love that teal yarn! What a gorgeous color.
