New new new.

Firstly, I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. :)

I'm not a mother but I didn't want to feel left out so I made myself a nice home-cooked 'mother's day breakfast'. lol (It was YUMMY too!) And then I was busy for the rest of the afternoon doing lots and lots of housework and food shopping. Hmph. (That part wasn't as fun.) The weather was just PERFECT perfect perfect though and I did manage to enjoy a bit of it out on the deck, doing my nails and chillaxing with a book.

I also finished a new stitchy!
This was the Shepherd's Bush kit that came out a couple months ago. Quick stitch and even quicker to finish. I went digging in my fabric stash and, shockingly, found something that closely matched the chenille trim that came with the kit. (Shocking because I don't have too many fabrics in the purple-mauve-plum tones in my stash.)

Not too cool? The chenille trim didn't fit the piece.
!@#$!@#!@#$!@#!@#!@#

Disappointing because the kit instructions call for cutting the square to 8 inches and I actually cut it to 6 - so by my reasoning I should have had EXTRA trim, not fallen an inch short of it. Grrrr.

The gap is on the bottom so it's not really noticeable but it's going to bother me knowing...it's...there...mocking....me. I'm going to email them and see if they can send me out another piece. If they don't have any extras, I'll hit up the lovely Victorian Motto Sampler Shoppe for some other chenille trim. I'll get 'er done one way or the other. :)

Also new, some new beads are up on the shoppe pages and Etsy:
(Plus others.)

I also spent a little time redoing the front page of my web site. Always good to spruce things up once and again. I get bored with it so I have to think OTHER people get bored with it too. lol
There's more work to be done to it, I think, but I'm done with it for the moment while I think on it. I'm no pro when it comes to html and style sheets and blah blah blah geekspeak so I have to move carefully and slowly and to get where I want to go and my brain is melted after this first go round.

Glad you had a good Mother's Day breakfast. Being a cat Mom deserves to be celebrated too!

Your spruced up blog looks great, Melanie--mine is due for an overhaul, too. Just can't seem to find the time with all the outside work there is to be done...

I love your little snowman finish--perfectly adorable. They really should send you more trim--especially since you made it smaller than the instructions suggested... That fabric is perfect for the back, too. Isn't it nice when you put the two together and BINGO--you know you've found a winning combination :)

Have a great week!!

That little snowman is just the cutest! Love the backing fabric.. I never think of using plaids. But how annoying to be just a few silly millimeters short of enough chenille. I hope they play nice and send you more since even then you have to do this over.

D'awwwwww...cute snowman...er, snowWOman, I suspect. You know, with the floral wreath and all. Not that there's anything wrong with a snowMAN wearing a floral wreath....

That would make me want to punch someone if the trim didn't fit like that!! Maybe put a bird on it? =P

Such a cute SB ornie! That is extremely annoying about the chenille trim though! Geez! I love the new beads you show. I have to go see your revamped website now. :D

That short trim would make me lose it. I hope the company sends you more.

Nice job on the sprucing up! :)

I think a yummy breakfast is one of life's simple pleasures!

Your Shepherd's Bush snowman is very pretty! I love your new scallop beads too - very nice!

What a cute finish! If you call up SB to complain, I'm sure they will send you more/new trim. You shouldn't have to pay hen you paid so much for a kit anyways. I did that with a button in one of their charm packs that had a closed hole.

The shell beads are so cute! Glad you had a nice mothers day breakfast. Sounds delicious! I had everyone wish me a Happy Mothers' Day yesterday. So weird since I don't have kids either!

The snowman is ADORABLE.

Hope you have good luck with SB. The one time I called (missing beads from a very expensive kit) --- they were pretty rude. :-( Kind of soured me on the company, but they certainly have beautiful patterns.

I love your SB stitch and finish - I know that you'll get the chenille shortage figured out. Your new beads are awesome!

The SB finish is adorable, shame about the trim not being long enough.

Super little shell beads, lovely pretty colours.

Such pretty summery beads! They are lovely.
And the wintery snowman is cute. I would tell you that the gap in the chenille doesn't matter, but I'm like you and it would MOCK me too! But it is nice. Good job!
