You can't keep me down for long.

Back in February I lost a beloved member of my sock family. The King Sock, if you will. I loved them too much, for too long, and blew a huge hole in the heel. *sniff*
(Mr. Chicken was in charge of the inspection process.)

There was only one thing to do, of course........
KNIT ANOTHER PAIR EXACTLY LIKE THE FIRST.

Same yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts - Socks that Rock.
Same pattern: Crusoe (free Knitty pattern)
AND I SHALL LOVE THEM UNTIL THEY FALL APART.

(Mr.Chicken approves.)

You see this yarn?

That my friends is the face of pure EVIL. Oh, I know - it looks nice enough. Lovely colors. Happy. Some might even say simple. But don't be fooled - it is pure EVIL. I was deceived by the devil bought this a few years ago and immediately set about knitting a pair of socks with it. But the pattern just didn't work for some reason. The colors were wrong, it was too twisty. It was too SOMETHING. It was all wrong. That happens sometimes - it's not always so easy to make a good marriage of yarn/pattern. So I tried another pattern. SAME THING HAPPENED. So I put the yarn away for a long while. I pulled it out again to give it another go. SAME PATTERN FAILURE. Now I was getting angry. Just what was WRONG with this yarn? Was it spun with evil FAIL fiber? Was it cursed? I didn't know so I put it away again. Flash forward to last November. I was again seduced into trying to work this yarn into something. I got halfway through the leg portion and it was just wrong, wrong, wrong. (Though this time it was clearly the pattern's fault. Turns out I hate doing a pattern that is heavy on the eyelet stitch.) So I left it until this spring. Where I took up ANOTHER pattern. (This would be the fifth try for those counting.) And it came out horrible. I just didn't get it. Looking at Ravelry, the pattern looked great. On my needles? TERRIBLE. I was just on the verge of throwing the whole shebang in the trash putting this yarn away again when I decided to try one final pattern. A pattern I'd queued ages and ages ago but had always wanted to knit up.
And this time......THIS TIME IT WORKED. It took me 3 socks worth of knitting, 6 patterns, and 3 years to finish up but behold:
WE HAVE ACHIEVED SOCKDOM. *takes a bow*

(And now I'm afraid to wear them lest the EVIL come back and result in a tragic ripped hole accident or something. I might have to give these away as a present. lol)

WHO LOVES YA BABY??????

There are a bunch of events in the Winter Games that put me into straight into an Olympicoma if I have to watch them for more than 5 minutes (read: any type of skiing/skating that takes longer than a few minutes per run to complete and/or any type of luge/bobsled event) but this year I've discovered, strangely enough, that I FREAKING LOVE CURLING. ADORE IT. TOTALLY HOOKED. LOVES ME SOME CURLING.

Who knew, eh? It's the kind of love that sneaks up on  you. I've been watching it every night around supper time and I've got the lingo down now. I'm all HAMMER! BUTTON! T-LINE!, etc.  It's a one way ticket to the unhippest Crazy Town you've ever seen but I'm enjoying the train ride. :)

It's war, baby.

Anybody else interested in this whole crazy situation with the Tonight Show? I admit that I am fascinated by it but I really couldn't tell you WHY, especially because I don't generally watch any late night tv. Whaaaat? (The exception being The Daily Show but I tivo that and watch it whenever I get around to it.) I've never even been a big watcher of the Tonight Show. Carson was a little too old for me when he was on and I've never been able to stomach Leno as a comic.

I think the whole thing though is such an EPIC FAIL that it piqued my interest. OMG DRAMAZ where nobody is actually being hurt? SIGN ME UP! I love a good (but harmless) trainwreck, ya know? If I have to pick a team though I'm definitely with COCO. I'll take wacky-funny over boring-and-too-politically-correct-'funny' every single time. Poor Coco. We hardly knew ye. No, really - WE HARDLY KNEW YE! *snort*

(Though I have to be honest and say that if I have to pick a late night show as my fav, it's Craig Ferguson's. He's wickedly clever, sharp as a tack, and, Ooowheeeee, the Scottish accent  ain't bad either. Who doesn't love a good Scottish brogue? *purrr* I wish I had time to watch his monologue every day but ya can't watch everything. I catch him sometimes during the summer when there is nothing else to tape.)

And to save this entry from being TOTAL MINDLESS DRECK THAT NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD BE INTERESTED IN........I'll throw in a photo of some Xmas ornaments I *finally* got around to sewing up the other day. (Refresher: I did the needlework in Nov/Dec.)

I'm sure they'll look good on the tree...................NEXT DECEMBER. Heehee. Three finished about five more to go. I'll get around to it sooner or later. :) And I even put beads on one of them so, POOF, I ended up bringing this all right back around to beads. *proud*
